Except I messed up my Cinderella spread. Not sure what to do. I think I was trying too hard, and now everything's bled to gray. Yesterday absolutely nothing worked the way it was supposed to. Ugh.

Hate when that happens - particularly in a book. I messed up the first spread in a new book bigtime last week - it was looking just fine but then I tried to beeswax it without knowing that hot beeswax and gold foiling pen don't work together, and I ended up with a murky, muddy mess. Sooo discouraging.

Oh, I hear you. Speaking of gold foil, somebody gave me one sheet of something that purports to be gold foil. What the heck do I have to do to make it stick? I've tried to burnish it into a number of adhesives, but nothing works. I'm ready to crumble it up like tissue paper and use it as background.

I've not used the foil itself, only gold leafing ink in a pen.

Here's someone who seems to iron gold foil on [link]

And here's a very dense article on gilding techniques [link] (seems to suggest gesso might work, amongst other things)
