Glued collage 4" x 6"
Papers, vintage drawing, hair-net wrapper, 1926 advertisement, book snip, dye inks, acrylic gloss, vinyl bird
Down in the comment stream, there's a note asking for the story of the collage, and pointing out that the gold vinyl bird has the shape of the lady's wing. I explained the story in the stream, but am repeating it here in case anybody is interested. Beware! It's a long explanation!Yes, that's right about the bird being the lady's wings. I had the lady diving away from her background/societal expectations/family expectations, which are symbolized by the cage dress form with the little nest in it, into the unknown waves. The golden bird wing would keep her aloft but then there was the question of what she was diving into. The words in the long strip indicate her motivation and that she had a "plan." But then the net part raised the question--is her net a "real human" net of people or a mesh net of virtual interactions? The little square box, which is an old advertisement for a lamp actually, represents the "really new" internet.
